In Memoriam

Our dearest Emily passed away peacefully at home yesterday, Thursday 9 July, surrounded by her family. We are profoundly grateful for the time she had among us and everything that she shared with us. Her courage and fortitude in the face of adversity was an inspiration to other patients at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead and to those she leaves behind. We give thanks for her life and for everything that she achieved, and are comforted to know that her spirit is ever with us, in the people and places that she loved. She was and is unique and irreplaceable and we shall never forget her.

Thank you for reading her blog and for helping Emily on her journey.

David ("The Dear Other") and Emily's family (Colin, Beverly and David)

I've been following this blog for a few months and was really praying for Emily. The lack of recent posts was worrying and I was shocked to see the most recent post. It must be a very painful time for all her friends and loved ones and the only consolation is that at least now she is at peace.

Kindest regards
Louna

My deepest condolences to Emily's family and friends. I happened upon her blog and was touched by her courage and spirit-the way she lived her life, as well as dealing with her illness. I'm going to miss her.

I have been reading Emily's blog since my own diagnosis, three years ago. She was smart, funny, creative and so much more.
My heart goes out to you. I am so, so sorry for your loss.

Emily will be with me every time I travel, every time I laugh, every time I knit or do crafts, and every time I sing.

David, Colin, Beverly and David, you are in my thoughts. x

I started reading Emily's blog about a month ago and wish I had come across it sooner.

I have been thinking of her almost daily since then.

Rest in peace, Emily. Your humour, honesty, passion and compassion shine through and have certainly had an impact on me.

My deepest sympathy to Emily's family and friends.

I started reading Emily's blog after my own diagnosis. Her writing was brilliant but what also struck me was how much she was loved and supported by her family and friends and that she was very aware of this. I am so sorry for your loss

Emily was an amazing person. I only met her the once but I've been following her blog ever since, and she's had me laughing and inspired me to keep going all the way.

I hope her blog will go on to inspire those who are fighting cancer.

Such a shame to lose her.

You're all in my thoughts.

I started reading Emily's blog after my husband's diagnosis. I cannot express in words how much I came to rely on this blog, and the wonderful way in which Emily was able convey her thoughts and feelings.

I have remembered Emily in my prayers during the time I have spent reading and following her blog. And while I have never known her personally, I will miss her. Please accept my deepest condolences.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers,
Melissa (Maryland USA and Belfast NI)

Emily was a kindred spirit and a sister in survivorship. I wish her peace. Cancer does not discriminate nor does it ever make sense to lose someone so vibrant and full of life.

My heart and love go out to her family and dear other. She will always be with you.

I have been thinking about her a lot for the past few months.... only have been reading for about a year or so. I am so sad to hear that she has passed. David-- my thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry every time a survivor passes I pray each day the more progress is made and some day the cure is here for all of us and no one ever dies again because of this awful disease.

My prayers, thoughts and wishing her family strength and courage as they mourn her loss.

All my best,

I found Emily's blog by way of another blog just yesterday. My condolences to all of Emily's loved ones. It's evident from her blog what a smart, funny woman she was. I relate to so many of the things she said and never had the words to express like she did.
